Joxnie
Hi, I have found the similar issue 3 years ago where you could zip the .device file for the specific midi controller, but I am assuming that with Catalina OS this doesn't work anymore. Do you guys maybe have a different solution, because this is getting really frustrating. Thanks in advance.
David Nahmani
What's your issue exactly? Can you play the keys on your controller to play software instruments in Logic Pro X? How is the A49 connected to your Mac?
Joxnie
Hi, thanks for getting back quickly. My exact issue is that I can't choose my Roland A49 under Inspector area, where you can choose plug-ins, utilities, and rest of the stuff. If you have any solution for this, please let me know. This hack from 3 years ago, where you can zip the folder etc etc is now working anymore. Thanks
enossified
I don't see how you can "choose" a MIDI controller in a channel strip, the way you choose plugins. What are you trying to accomplish?
Joxnie
Guys, sorry for my english or terminology or whatever. The thing is that my Roland worked just fine a week ago and now it does not after I upgraded to Catalina. Before it was easy as plug and play, now I can't manage to do that, and if there's any logical solution I would love to hear it. Thanks
Solution Christof Posted November 6, 2019 Solution Share Posted November 6, 2019 You need to download the latest driver and follow exactly the instructions, then your keyboard will work again. It's because of Catalina. https://www.roland.com/global/support/support_news/19091015/ Your driver can be found here: https://www.roland.com/global/support/by_product/a-49/updates_drivers/0df02ad2-3853-4270-b14c-684137a16fc1/

You're not supposed to be choosing your Roland A49 there. Your A49 is a MIDI Controller, it should just trigger the R-enabled software instrument track without you having to do anything in Logic. Just follow Christof's advice (previous post in this thread).
