damchillmusic
Whenever I select different MIDI or Audio channels to record or edit, I lose MIDI input signal for about 10 seconds. I play my keyboard controller and hear nothing. At various times I will hear a sustained tone from the selected patch before the MIDI is received and I can play normally. It also happens when I add a new track to the session or if I choose to re-record a part I'm not satisfied with. It doesn't matter if I'm running Kontakt, EX24, PLAY, etc. Anytime I switch to a new track I temporarily lose MIDI input. My MIDI signal goes USB out from my keyboard to USB in on Mac Pro port. However, it also does the same with MIDI OUT to MIDI IN on my interface. I can't figure out what it is. Any ideas? I'm running Logic 10.4.7 on Mojave 10.14.
David Nahmani
It's odd, it does sound like a CoreMIDI or MIDI driver issue... have you tried a different USB port? Or reinstalling the USB-MIDI driver for your keyboard or interface if there is one?
damchillmusic
Yes. I have tried different cables and switched ports as well. I use a Focusrite 6i6c which to my understanding, is 'Plug & Play' and doesn't require a driver.
David Nahmani
Choose Logic Pro X > Control Surfaces > Bypass All Control Surfaces and see if the issue disappears? Quit Logic and use MIDI Monitor (https://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/) to see if your Mac is receiving the MIDI events in real time from your keyboard? David Nahmani
And did you try the test I suggested?
damchillmusic
Yes, i did the test and there were no problems there.
David Nahmani
Yes, i did the test and there were no problems there. Meaning... the issue disappears when you bypass the control surfaces? Then either keep it bypassed or hunt for the culprit messages in your controller assignments?
damchillmusic
Yes, sorry. That is what I meant. The issue does disappear when I bypssed the control surfaces. I am going to go through the controller assignments to try and weed out the culprit. Thank you so much for helping me with this!
