Zipfunk
Hi Guys, I’ve been looking around at controllers and I’ve seen quite a few. I think I’ve tipped out of my depth with what’s out there and what I actually need. I record a lot with EW orchestral samples. I see composers on YouTube with their left hand on what I’m assuming is a MIDI controller. I believe I need to control expression, modulation, volume. And maybe another parameter? (I’m gleaning this from the web and from my options when I click on the automation in the piano roll in Logic) My question is probably not different than most. How little can I spend to get something I’ll be happy with? Drew
Atlas007
If you already have a trackpad, AudioSwift2 app is really worth considering. Works great in my setup. Very versatile, cheap, highly configurable. Good for most occasion. Nor recommended if you are in the market for physical control knobs or faders. If you are looking for physical controlling devices, you should privilege rotary encoders and motorized faders over stop knobs and regular passive faders. Logic features some setting to alleviate the latter's inherent function limitation. However those remains not ideal in most situations. Using pedals are also more natural for expression and sustain.
