apricotandpearjam
hi all. just wondering if anyone knows if this is possible? id like to have access to my logic library of sounds (using 3rd party plugins) in Ableton. cheers!
des99
Load the Logic preset into the plugin. Use the plugin to save to it's own format (if it supports this), then reload it in the other DAW. This will all depend on whether the plugin concerned has those features, some do, some don't.
apricotandpearjam
My apologies. I’m talking about chains. Is it possible to somehow read and convert either the .cst or .patch files?
David Nahmani
Is it possible to somehow read and convert either the .cst or .patch files? No, those are proprietary Logic file formats.
apricotandpearjam
ok thanks! any advice on how to create cross compatible patches for use in different DAWS?
des99
You can't use Ableton racks in Cubase either, as an example. There are third-party plugins, like Blue Cat's Patchwork, which let you create chains of third-party plugins which will work cross-platform (you can't use plugins from your DAW, of course). I don't worry too much about this - Logic is my main DAW, and it doesn't bother me that things I've built in Logic aren't available in, eg, Live. I just use Live for what it does, or bounce audio between them etc. I don't need to perfectly recreate my environment from one DAW in another DAW/
