violas-articulations

I am curious how to change to pizzicato with the violas instrument in Logic? I was trying to read around and it was saying to edit it in the Articulation ID, but I am lost from there. Thanks.

What library are you using? If one like EastWest, the articulations come segregated by articulation type, eg, legatos on one track and pizzes on another. If a library like Garratin, the articulations are switchable using key switches (adding a specific Midi note below the audible range to switch from one articulation to another).

 

Logic includes articulation switcher types for both kinds. (It's very satisfying when you get those articulation swithchers set up right).

I have a third party software coming in the mail, but right now I am using the violas that came with Logic. I just don't know how to have some sounds play pizzicato.

I don't know whether the Sampler instruments are capable of pizzicatto notes. You may have to invest in a different library. the Garratin library is fairly inexpensive and VERY extensive. Very authentic sounding, too, but only orchestral instruments. I would recommend the Garratin Personal Orchestra (GPO). You can download them all online, too. No need to fool with the mail.

they are, I see the options in the articulation edit screen. I'm waiting on the USB Key for the Vienna Symphonic Library I purchased to come in the mail.
