pmbmcguiregmail.com
Hi folks, I've been having trouble getting my Softube Console 1 Fader (essentially a fader control unit) and Logic 10.4.8 to play nice. At best (when the hardware isn't crashing), it's only possible to automate a single Logic track at a time, which defeats the purpose of the fader controller. Softube tell me this is a known issue since Logic 10.4.5, and they say it happens with generic fader controllers as well, where you can't automate multiple tracks at a time. Does anybody know if this is true? I was thinking of investing in a Behringer X-touch to replace the Console 1 Fader (using it to control track volume rather than Console 1 app volume), but this would make it a waste of money for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Paul I'm using High Sierra (so I'm stuck with Logic 10.4.8), by the way.
Solution des99 Posted September 18, 2020 Solution Share Posted September 18, 2020 I don't know about Console 1, but of course you can automate multiple tracks at once in general, at least with mixer parameters. With plugins, it's sometimes a bit more tricky due how how typically controller assignments are setup, but it's perfectly possible to do this too. pmbmcguiregmail.com
Hi Des, Thanks for your reply. Yeah, I thought that was a bit of a strange claim of Softube to make - that wouldn't be the sort of issue to have gone unnoticed by the Logic community for years. It sounds like maybe there's a problem controlling the Console 1 plugin. Have a great weekend. Cheers, Paul
des99
I expect though the Console 1 channel controller is *designed* to only control the one selected channel - unlike the other device which is more of a mixer thing. But I agree on the claim that even generic controllers can't automate more than one channel at once seems a bit naive...
kubaorlowski
Same problem here with Console 1 Fader. Heve you found a solution?
pmbmcguiregmail.com
It turns out it's an issue with Console 1 Fader and Logic that Softube has always been well aware of. It's meant to be able to handle automating multiple tracks at a time in Logic - that is the primary function of the product. Though they claim its Apple's problem to fix, Softube continue to market it as being compatible product with Logic without being transparent about this or taking any responsibility. Pretty disgraceful. I had to sell mine.
