Any way to update/download 10.5.1?

This has stopped working.

I just upgraded my studio Mac from Sierra to Mojave. I had been waiting until all my works in progress were finished.

I can't upgrade Logic from 10.4.4 through the App Store. It doesn't matter if I delete the app or not. From the main Logic Pro page in the store I just get the warning that it requires 10.5.

From my account, on what used to be the past purchases page, I do get a prompt saying I can download an older version, but then either it just does nothing or I get an "error" message.

Fortunately I can copy it over from another Mac.

Take a look through this whole thread:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252080040

Some people have had success with a sequence of putting Logic in the trash, restarting, logging out and in, going to past purchases, going to the Logic page in App Store.

Please let us know if you are able to solve it.

If not, the only solution is to bring it over from another Mac.

Thank you! I already tried that, seems that the App Store really changed the behaviour, for worse.

If I was in your situation, I would give APPLE a call and kindly ask them to send you the last LPX version available for Mojave 10.14.6 (18G8022) which is Logic Pro 10.5.1. Sounds good to you?

Thanks for the suggestion, but call Apple in my country usually is a waste of time.

Plus, I already read in forums about other users with the same problem, who tried do call Apple US and they don't send links.

I guess I’m in the same situation: currently running High Sierra, Logic 4.6 and getting ready to (involuntarily) update both the OS and Logic. What can I expect the App Store will provide as my “update” in my situation? Due to current work load I would like to go to Mojave first and whatever version of Logic that works with Mojave before going to Catalina.

In case anyone else has an issue similar to mine in this category, here is my solution.

I had to do a reformat and clean reinstall of Mojave 10.14.6. When I did, I found I couldn't download Logic Pro X; the App Store wanted to force me to upgrade to Catalina to run the only version available on the front end of the App Store. I started chatting with Apple Support, who insisted I could not have an old version of Logic. They were confused by the very concept and said I should upgrade to Big Sur. No thank you.

Turns out, the old versions are there if you paid for them previously.

1. Go to App Store>Store>View My Account (you need to be logged into the App Store, obvs).

2. Click the icon for Logic Pro X

3. It will tell you it can't download the current version, but will offer you the most-recent version of the app

4. Download and you're good to go.

Not sure if Apple came back to its senses or if this is just a nasty bug in the App Store.

It went for me like this:

(my system uses German so probably the function names will be different)

1. Go to App Store -> My account; your previously bought application will be shown

2. next to the Logic icon there's a field "open"; this just opens the application which is not what we want

3. clicking on the icon itself brings us the App Store entry for Logic; this one has an "update" button in the upper right corner

4. clicking that button informs us bluntly that we can't run the current version (and also offers no other version) so we dismiss this dialog

5. clicking the "back" arrow in the upper left corner brings us back to the "my account" page

6. and surprise: instead of the "open" button there's now an "update" button

7. clicking that button again informs us that we can't run the current version but also offers us to download the last working version

8. but this seems to work only if the "old" Logic application was deleted; otherwise it gets into an endless loop

Not as straightforward as one would wish for, but it's still there.

This worked. Long time Ableton user finally jumping on the train. Bummed I can’t use 10.6 (Mojave, don’t want to move) but loving it so far with my SSL Native theme. Thanks so much!

In addition to the steps set put by Gacki I found I had to delete my installed version of Logic Pro X to allow the cloud symbol at the stage of being offered an upgrade to the latest working version matching my OSx.

Prior to deleting my installed Logic Pro X I was being offered the upgrade (via the steps set out by Gacki) but when the upgrade button (no cloud symbol) was clicked the dialogue box which opened offered Cancel or Download. Clicking on the Download button did nothing other than to bounce the dialogue box up out of sight and down again. Despite restarts and many other tests nothing resolved the issue until I deleted my installed Logic Pro X version. (Send to Trash Bin and then Emptied the bin.)

Before deleting my installed Logic Pro X and emptying the bin I compressed my installed version of Logic Pro X as a back up.

I was walked through this solution by an Apple Logic Pro specialist via telephone help. I obtained telephone help by first opening a chat contact which eventually (efficiently) led to being able to speak to a Logic Pro specialist. I was very surprised and pleased with the great assistance I received from Apple.

Thanks to Gacki and Apple assistance I now have Logic Pro X 10.5.1 running on Mojave 10.14.6 on a 2012 MacBook Pro. Best of all is that my 32 bit plug ins running under 32 Bit Lives are all working.

I hope this may assist.
