maxbeats
Hi, I've run into automation problems and I've seen many similar threads but none of them hold the answer to the problem I've got. There's region automation on some of my tracks but no matter what I do (and I think I've tried everything) It won't delete and it's affecting the fader level on the mixer. Even with all track & region automation turned off, the fader reverts to this level whenever the music is stopped and starts again. I've found the greyed out automation point in the region. Whenever I try to delete it, it just comes straight back. I've found it in the event list (although the way it appears is entirely weird) and I delete it from the list, but then it just comes straight back again. It's driving me steadily nuts! I've only started having this problem recently, so I'm hoping it's just something I can toggle off, which would also explain why it's suddenly started happening. I've attached a screenshot to show the location - it's shown as a white automation line on the region on the 70s Classic synth Bass track. I've tried deleting it with the automation selector tool, but it stays there greyed out and just comes back again when you click on the region. I've deleted it in the event list (also notice how no parameters are selected yet there it is!) but again when you select it in the list and press delete it just goes to greyed out and comes back when you click on the region again. I've also tried Mix>Delete all automation on selected track - and that does nothing. Also when I remove ALL the regions off that track it still reverts to the same volume. Even with all the automation turned off. I've also tried disconnecting my midi keyboard and it still happens. Is it a bug? Am I missing something? Any suggestions gratefully received! Atlas007
Perhaps using the hack explained here could help?
maxbeats
Thanks Atlas, I'll try it and see. I found another workaround which was to copy all the regions (without automation - making sure that option is turned on) and then delete the track entirely (having saved the settings). Then call up a new track and paste the regions back in. It solves the problem, but obvs it'd be good if it wasn't happening in the first place. Maybe the hack will work for that. Thanks again. David Nahmani
Can you attach a project that shows this issue here? I'll have a look. How to attach files to your post
PJRasmussenJazz
Can you attach a project that shows this issue here? I'll have a look. How to attach files to your post Hi David, I'm having a similar issue, and also a related one. The zipped file was still too large, so I attached a screenshot. I'm using Spitfire Audio's BBC Symphony Orchestra for the Basses in this project. I mapped their dynamics control to a fader and played in the automation. I didn't like it, so I went to delete the automation, but it's still clearly visible, and affecting the playback. I tried deleting all track and all region automation. Oddly enough, Track and Region views display a different-looking curve of automation. You can see each in the photo. Further confusing me is that if I select Dynamics in the automation view (showing the orange line), it simply displays a straight line at one dynamic level, and does not respond to my fader. I can set it to 0 or 100, and it has no effect. Question 1) Why is track and region automation not deleting? Question 2) Why is the dynamics (orange) automation slider not showing the change in automation that is clearly getting written into the track/region? Answering question 1 would let me use the mouse to click on the Dynamics and draw them in manually, similar to volume automation. This would be a long, but possible workaround. Answering question 2 would greatly simplify my life because I could just tweak a couple of points that I didn't like by hand. I'm probably missing something. Thanks for your help!
