A cmd + J question

How can I avoid a region to recover from the stuff I cut out when hitting cmd. J?

I took a sample and cut out the hhats. Then I wanted to join the loose regions by hitting cmd. J. But instead of simply joining them it recovered the old stuff I had cut. How can I avoid that?

I hope I explained it correctly.

Cheers!

Hi David,

yes thats what I meant. I corrected now my mistake in the title (:

Well, the thing is that as soon as I cmd + J, then the previous parts that I cut out with the marquee tool come automatically back. Having as an end result the same region that I had before.

I resolved this by copying and pasting the parts of the region then joining it all together. Then I worked. But only that way.

Hi David,

While at it I wanted to ask another question and since it is about cmd J thought ok to post in this thread.

When I join audio files using cmd J the muted parts in between stays under the consolidated region. Is there anyway to get rid of them when using cmd J?

Thanks
