Gianni_Gon
How can I avoid a region to recover from the stuff I cut out when hitting cmd. J? I took a sample and cut out the hhats. Then I wanted to join the loose regions by hitting cmd. J. But instead of simply joining them it recovered the old stuff I had cut. How can I avoid that? I hope I explained it correctly. Cheers! Solution David Nahmani Posted March 11, 2021 Solution Share Posted March 11, 2021 I'm assuming you mean join (default is Command-J)? Marquee-select what you want to join, press Command-J and click Create.
Gianni_Gon
Hi David, yes thats what I meant. I corrected now my mistake in the title (: Well, the thing is that as soon as I cmd + J, then the previous parts that I cut out with the marquee tool come automatically back. Having as an end result the same region that I had before. I resolved this by copying and pasting the parts of the region then joining it all together. Then I worked. But only that way. David Nahmani
But only that way. I guess you haven't tried my way? Marquee-select what you want to join, press Command-J and click Create.

Gianni_Gon
ohh haaa! Marque-""select""" Me must read more carefully to come out from darkness. Thank U. That worked perfectly!
David Nahmani
No worries. You're welcome, now you have one more method for doing it.
ozinga
Hi David, While at it I wanted to ask another question and since it is about cmd J thought ok to post in this thread. When I join audio files using cmd J the muted parts in between stays under the consolidated region. Is there anyway to get rid of them when using cmd J? Thanks
David Nahmani
Either delete the muted regions, or Marquee-select a little more than the regions to force creating a new audio file.
ozinga
Longer marquee did not work. So deleting the muted regions first seems to be the only option. Thanks!
David Nahmani
Longer marquee did not work. What I meant is longer so that it goes further than the end of the last region, selecting a bit of empty space after that. Is that what you tried? Anyway good to hear that simply deleting the muted region(s) works.
ozinga
Thanks, Yes I started the marquee earlier than the first and ended later than the last region. Still leaves the muted regions beneath.
