Importing audio file in Logic

Hi there,

a few months ago I read that if I experience troubles by importing mp3 in logic (cause the audio file is automatically sped up when I do so) then I should use CAF audio files. I have been doing so ever since, and it has been working well. And I actually believe that it still works just fine, how ever, I have this one file that I have not been able to import in Logic, it is in CAF format, and every time I try, Logic Pro freezes and doesnt respond anymore, hence having to quit force it.

 

I wonder how can I figuer out the problem behind this or if I should try another format (...mp3 doesnt work either)?

Can you try AIFF or WAV?

I tried mp3, caf, wav and now i tried aiff... nothing working ):

does the file play in quicktime? can you preview it with quicklook? and what are you using to convert it?

they all work fine with quick time. I use different website that I find in google. I have used them before and they always work. Like convertio

I think it is 16... Should it be 32?

CAF is a container, the audio data inside the container could be many different formats, and some are unsupported. What file is this?

I just downloaded audacity to convert the file from 16 to 32 bits, how ever, I cannot export it in caf, which is the type of file my logic has been favouring.

So I exported it in WAV 32 bit. But logic freezes with that file.

And if I convert the wav to caf with convertio then I end up with a caf 16 bit again.

Logic doesn't favor CAF. You should be able to import any compatible AIF, WAV or CAF formats. Logic doesn't support 32 bit files, only 16 or 24.

The file from the screen shot fulfills those requirements. There must be something else I am missing then, since logic isnt supporting it

Does the file playback as expected in Quick Look? QuickTime ? Audacity ?

jap, it works in each one perfectly well, except for logic.

I read once in reddit that some people experience the same problem, and someone said that converting the file to caf might help. Which it does, as good as alway. Its just this one file that I am having trouble with

When you right-click on the original mp3 file and click on Get Info, what does it say?

But I solved this problem now in another way.

Every time I drag in a mp3 file, for some reason the mp3 file is sped up. So I simply streched the file not minding so much about the loss of quality, since I am using this sound only for a few seconds as an ambiend background sound.

Can you share that problematic file? I'll give it a try.

Make sure you compress the file before uploading it here: in the Finder, control-click the file and choose compress. Then attach the resulting .zip file here.

.mov ? That's a movie file, not an audio file. Choose File > Movie > Open Movie...

One thing... when I drag this into logic. It works, but the file is sped up for some reason.

Ok I created a new project and imported your mp3 file here without any issues, no speeding up.

 

Try this: if you're using an existing project, make sure you first save your project organized as a folder, with "Copy audio files into project" selected. Then import the mp3 file.

 

In any case mp3 is a distribution audio file format. For production I recommend using PCM files (Wav, Aiff, or CAF).

Right click and Compress it, it should be compressed as Zip, which you probably can share here.

Is that an option that comes up when I right click on the project in Finder?

Do a Save As and then select Folder and Audio Files in the new window.
