Removing Silence -- Performance?

Sat Apr 03, 2021 1:03 pm

Simple question that I can't seem to find the answer to. I understand the benefit of removing silence for gating and bleed issues.
In Logic, is there a performance benefit (plugins, etc) to having the regions all cut up??

If there is no sound there is no processing power required...

So does that mean a region-less area of the timeline or a space like below...

Region-less. If there is a region the audio (even if super quiet) gets passed through the processing chain. No region? No processing.
