niteboatermusic
see pic for better explanation. Never seen this from Logic before in many years of use. Notice the recording playback - which normally appears full track height, is something less than that now. How do we get back to normal? Is is still safe to record on this track? How do we avoid this phenomena in the future? Our VO board op today fat fingered something - as you can see with the take regions (which we never use), could this be related? stratquebec
You’ve stoped the recording but the region and the playhead remains in red?
niteboatermusic
No - I couldn’t get a snapshot any other way then to capture the image in real time. Notice how the red of the recording track doesn’t go all the ways to the top of the track... if I try to record on any other track - the record area will go to the top of the track. Is this a glitch? There’s a button on the upper right of the Tracks area that have a kind of waveform on it. Is it on(blue)? If so, if you hold the cursor on the button, a slider will apprear, is it on the upper side or lower side? It’s a zoom level slider that affects the played back audio but not the wave while you record, methinks. If it’s the problem, it means you’re not recording hot(loud) enough. Edit; Oops, are you talking about the region Height?...
Solution David Nahmani Posted April 26, 2021 Solution Share Posted April 26, 2021 Our VO board op today fat fingered something - as you can see with the take regions (which we never use), could this be related? Yes it is. Because you have a take folder on the track, the behavior is that the new recording takes only the space of the waveform. That's not necessarily an abnormal behavior. The "normal" behavior is for the waveform to take the entire track's height during recording, then upon pressing stop the waveform is zoomed out so that it takes only the waveform lane height, keeping a small portion of the track height (at the top) for the region name. That's a little clunky. At least with this behavior you're experiencing when there's already a take folder present, the waveform stays at the same zoom level during recording and after you press stop. But I agree that you should get a consistent behavior whether or not you have a take folder present on the track. So either way it's a bug.
