Brown wood in 10.6.2

I have Logic Pro 10.6.2. For some reason I now have two strips of tacky-looking wood on either side of my work space - how do I get rid of these 2012 features? Logic 10.5 didn't have these. They are taking up space and serve no purpose and are not even aesthetically pleasing. What's going on?

You're in Garageband mode - turn on the "Advanced Tools" in the preferences.

Yes, LPX from 10.x onwards does this when you have Logic running in the simplified Garageband mode, you probably didn't migrate your Logic preferences over so it's been reset to an easy start up configuration.
