Connecting a condesnor mic through external preamp .....

I’ve got access to a nice condenser mic and I want to run it through an external mic preamp into my Apogee duet bypassing the preamp in the Duet using only it’s converters.

I’m trying to remember extremely important advice I got a while back before plugging anything in.... from what I remember I should apply 48v in Maestro “only” if I’m going directly into the Duet. However, from

what I remember if I apply 48v in the Duet (Maestro software) “and” 48v on the external preamp I could blow the preamp as it’s not designed to take power. So, am I right in thinking I should turn off 48v in Maestro software and only apply the 48v button on the external preamp?

Cheers
