Preferences/Output/Input Device

Hello,

Specs:

Logic Pro 10.6.2

MacOs Catalina Version 10.15.17

MacBook Pro

2.6GHz Dua;-Core Intel Core i5

8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

The issue i'm having is that anytime I change the output device, input device, or I/O buffer size under System Preferences I receive a popup saying "Initializing Audio" (see attached) then Logic totally freezes and requires me to force quit. I first noticed this when changing the input device to my Scarlett 2i2 but came to realize this popup appears upon *any* change within the devices settings. One thing worth noting is that I never encountered this problem until updating my logic to 10.6.2.

I've already attempted the following:

- Trashing logic's preferences

- Trashing and reinstalling Logic Pro X

- Clicking apply changes while core audio is not enabled

I've ran out of options and ideas here, please help!

Thank you.

Changing interfaces and buffer sizes always requires a core audio initializing. That's expected behavior.

The fact that Logic freezes is another story.

Do you restart your computer once in a while?

Hello David, yes - restart quite a bit. I will try again though

...also, that initialization can take some time if you have sampled instruments (especially Kontakt ones, especially especially if they are on an external spinning USB drive). For how long did you wait before force quitting?

I've waited from 2-15 minutes approx.

I've tried making changes on an empty project, same result.

For troubleshooting, try creating a new user account on your Mac, then open Logic in the new user account and try changing your input or output device, see if the behavior is the same?

Hello David,

Just tried creating a new user account, behavior is the same.
