Tuning almost any recorded sample sound to a accurate pitch to use

Tue Jun 01, 2021 2:10 am

Hi Everyone hope and pray all good
I am new at recording sounds
I am use a usb condenser mic
Goal in sight is to use different sounds I recorded to tune them to a musically pitch to make useable very basic sample instrument for starters

What I did

I record me hitting glass jar with my finger nail to make a ringing sounds

So I bring into my daw Logic
I did use the built in tuner in my daw this works but not always Accurate

Looking for others experience ways of to tune almost any sound ,tone or harmonic Frequencies ,inharmonic Frequencies
Eccept. Noise I don’t Believe you can tune that to a musically pitch

And out of the box thinking is very welcome

Thank You in advance

Indeed some sounds (noise) don't have a pitch. And some enharmonic sounds (bells) have multiple pitches which can make them hard to use as a pitched material in music.

Here's a long standing discussion on the topic: Finding the Exact Frequency of a Piece of Audio
