Control Surface Setup help needed

Hi,

I have an Arturia Keylab 61 Essential midi controller/keyboard.

The keyboard has Start/Stop/Record/Rewind/Forward/Cycle buttons.

I like to use them to control Logic Pro X.

In Control Surface Setup I added the Midi Controller from the list.

I enabled Midi In and Midi Out in Control Surfaces Setup.

Now when I press Play on the keyboard it triggers note a#5.

I need some assistance on how to set it up so I can control Logic Pro x.

Many thanks.

Did you set up your Arturia as a Mackie Control device in the Control Surface setup? As JakobP wrote, you probably have a MIDI port mismatch. Take a screenshot of your Control Surface preferences and post it here.

Are you sure it's not A#6? Mackie Control protocol uses note numbers to send commands. Pressing the play button will send an A#6.

This chart shows the note numbers used by Mackie Control for transport buttons.

BTW, there are two octave numbering standards in use, which might explain the A#5 vs. A#6 confusion. I ran into this years ago when I used Yamaha synths.

There are TWO conventions for numbering keys (notes) in MIDI. The most common is the one below where MIDDLE C (note #60; $3C) is C3 (C in the 3rd octave). However, another convention was adopted by Yamaha Corp. for their synthesizer products which parallels the Octave Designation System used in Music Education formulated by the Acoustical Society of America. In that convention, Middle C is designated "C4". The "C3 Convention" is the most commonly used octave designation system on standard MIDI keyboards
