Fantom 7 not receiving MIDI through USB from Logic

Logic Pro running on Big Sur with a Roland Fantom 7 connected via USB. The Mac is new and came with Big Sur and Logic Pro installed.

I can record a MIDI track from the Fantom in Logic but upon play-back the Fantom is not receiving the MIDI data. The Fantom 6 7 8 USB driver appears installed in Logic, but when I create a new MIDI track, Fantom 6 7 8 is not listed as a MIDI destination (I only see Fantom 6 7 8 MIDI OUT 1 and 2, but they are not the correct destinations).

The driver works correctly in Studio One. Fantom is set to Vendor. I can receive MIDI on the Fantom using a 5 pin connection using a separate Audio/MIDI interface..

What am I missing? I had the Sweetwater tech and Apple support looking at my screen and both are puzzled as well (an Apple support ticket is open). They both seem to agree that it may be an issue with the driver working in Logic. I also contacted Roland but they cannot reproduce the issue on their setup using Big Sur.

Is anyone else experiencing similar issues? Any suggestions are welcome.
