Stock plugins rescanning upon startup

What exactly are STOCK plugins? Can you describe what you are seeing? Logic doesn't "scan" it's own plugins, but it does scan AU plugins, whether from Apple or from other third-parties.

This is different to "validating" plugins, like Logic does for newly installed plugins, which can take some time depending on the third-party plugin.

Which plugins specifically are you referring to?

If Logic is continually *validating* plugins (as opposed to just scanning which ones are on your system), it might indicate a permissions problem with your account and an inability to correctly write the AU cache file.

That looks like it's detecting new plugins installed (or updates/changes to existing plugins), or isn't correctly saving the AU cache (possibly due to permissions issues), so the plugins are detected but not saved into the cache.

How do I remedy this situation? It is rescanning my Kilohertz plugins (from the Slate Bundle) each time. I've reinstalled and checked that they're in the components folder, but still doing it.

Have you tried contacting Kilohertz support?

Can you install other plugins ok without this effect (indicating it's not likely to be a permissions problem).

Have you tried once Logic is running, going into Plugin Manager and reselecting and revalidating those plugins to see whether they settle down? Have you tried moving the components out of the plugin folder, running Logic, then quitting Logic, putting them back and trying again? have you tried uninstalling them, rebooting, running Logic, then re-installing them, rebooting and trying again.

This kind of general futzing can sometimes fix funny issues when thing aren't behaving quite right.

You can also try trashing Logic's prefs (temporarily) and also try running in another user account to see if the behaviour is the same or different.

Some troubleshooting steps to try, anyway...
