MIDI inputs change message

I just got a new MacBook Air with Logic X pre-loaded. Now every time I open a project (converted from Logic 9) it gives a message "Changed number of MIDI inputs. Now 1 input is available." What's up with that?

What MIDI devices are (or were) connected when you were using 9? What is connected now?

 

When I open old projects on my iMac that were last opened when I was using different devices than I use now, I've gotten that message. I assume after you save the project the message doesn't come up again?

Thanks. I had an M-Audio keyboard plugged in Logic 9. Nothing connect now in Logic X. I'll check that out. I still get the message every time I open the project.

Thanks. That message appears when a MIDI interface (or a USB device that has MIDI ports) is connected or disconnected from your Mac (or turned on or off). It shouldn't have any relationship with loading a Logic project file at all.

To see what port is added, open the midi environment, go to the "Clicks & Ports" layer, and look what's listed in the "Physical Input" object. Do you use Autosampler in the project ?

It always happens very time I open the window.

JakobP - I don't use Autosampler - I don't know what it is. I'm new to Logic X and in Logic 9 I don't know what opening the MIDI environment means - there is no option for that in my Window menu, and never saw anything called "Clicks & Ports" so I don't know where to find it. I've looked about.

No problem Go main menu Window>Open MIDI Environment, in the window that opens, click on "Mixer" in the top left and select "Click & Ports" in the drop down. Now you can see a box named "Physical Input" to the left, in there you see all midi ports Logis is seeing, can you tell us what's listed there ?

There is no Open MIDI environment option in my Windows menu.

 

Ok, you probably haven't enabled the advanced options in Logics preferences ? Go Logic Pro > Preferences>Advanced Tools and enable all checkboxes.

It's really nothing to worry about. Logic is just informing you of MIDI port changes - something is creating a virtual MIDI port. You can probably turn notifications off on your computer if it bothers you.
