Logic put broken AIF files in trash. What happened?

I recorded two audio tracks, replayed and saved, one region on each track. Afterwards I found two files in the Trash, “Piano L#02.aif” and corresponding R. When opening in Apple Music or VLC they report the files being 4:28:25 hours long, and the beginning sounds like a part of the regions I recorded. I recorded about 7 minutes, the files in the trash are about 3.3 MB large.

What has happened? I see no use of these files so I think they are safe to delete and I see no problem with my recording. But what did I press/do wrong? Why are these in the trash? Where did they come from?

That sounds like those are temp files, When you start a recording Logic has to create temporary audio files to store the audio data inside, then when you press stop, the filesize is updated.

Logic normally should clean them up when you're done recording, but I suppose it's possible that something occured that is responsible for those files ending up in your trash instead of being automatically deleted.

As long as you have your proper recordings in place in the project folder I wouldn't worry about deleting those.
