Question About Logic w/M1

I want to pick up an Air or Macbook Pro so I can do remote work (podcasts, maybe light composition) probably with one of the bus powered Scarletts, but I'm still a little confused and concerned about the M1 chips, etc. Will there be any problems running the latest version of Logic on either one of these machines?

Thanks

Running the latest version of Logic on an M1 Mac mini here. No problems whatsoever. On the contrary. Astoundingly fast and trouble-free performance (hobbyist mid-size compositions).

From clicking the Logic icon on the Dock to having the empty template up and ready, it takes literally three seconds.

EXACTLY. Best Logic experience ever. One thing to check: Third party plugins you use. See if they are compatible with M1. Most work fine under Rosetta. Oh! Also check if your audio interface is compatible!!!

Hey Damion, while I don't use an M1 machine myself, I have used a MacBook Air (Intel) since 2013 and it's an impressive machine already. As for M1 processors, I've worked with clients who worked with them, whether Mac mini or MacBook Air, and I can confidently say that they're very powerful, stable machines. I would not hesitate in picking up one of the existing ones right away — or wait 4 more days to hear about the new machines Apple is about to announce: New Apple Announcements October 18th ! I wonder how much I'll regret my M1 mini? It's handled everything I've thrown at it, so, probably, not too much. My biggest performance issue is not having my most used 3rd party plugins being ARM native, yet. And €1806 for a BTO with Applecare + €479 for a monitor wasn't exactly cheap.

seems you're doing fine, and it's the 3rd-party developers who need to step up (am concerned about this as well...)

I have a 'Native' template that includes my ARM stuff, like Hive 2, Scuffham Amps has a beta that works perfectly well. I could use IK's MODO Drum, but I like Logic's Drum Kit Designer better, so I'm going with that until XLN gets ARM versions out of ADD. I'm going to have to learn how to instantiate presets on the Native Logic compressors and reverbs, etc., rather than 3rd party presets….

Anyway, has a good number of Logic Instruments and fx on it. Alchemy is great. The B3 is ok, but I just got IK's B3X, which is amazing, but Intel only.

And it loads in about 3 seconds after the 'ask' prompt.
