JoshJ
Does anyone know how I can add a Mac shortcut to my midi controller. I want to add the ctrl+shift+power button shortcut (turns screen off without logging out) to a button on my midi control for easy access
des99
Keyboard Maestro can run scripts/commands on receipt of MIDI messages. I use it to run various Mac functions from MIDI buttons/footswitches etc.
JoshJ
It there no way within OSX or Logic itself to enable this?
des99
No, Logic can’t remotely drive your Mac, that’s not its job. And MacOS can’t natively assign MIDI commands to shortcuts either, which is why you need a third-party tool to achieve this goal.
facej
[betterTouchTool] (https://www.folivora.ai/buy) should be able to do this as well. I use Keyboard Maestro as well (just recently started). The price for either tool is quite low - cheaper than most plug-ins - and can certainly make your Logic experience much "richer". I am late to the KM party, but will be having many macros built for Logic processes.
JoshJ
Thanks guys. I'll take a look at Maestro but think it might be overkill for what I need at the mo. Alternatively, does anyone know if its possible to change the keystroke for my desired shortcut? I've looked for my shortcut in Preferences>Keyboard>Shortcuts but cant seem anything by the name of "turn screen off" etc. This is the shortcut to which i'm referring; t.ly/R4WF

JoshJ
Thanks David. Does this app have to be open/running in the background for the midi shortcuts to be functional?
David Nahmani
Thanks David. Does this app have to be open/running in the background for the midi shortcuts to be functional? Yes. Any app that changes the way MacOS behaves that way has to be running (or at least have a background process running) for the changes to occur.
