tommyq94
Hi everyone, When I Quantize audio why does it automatically go to Q-Range +1/16, and what does this mean? Would the audio be effected if I was to change this value? I just want to Quantize audio normally. Any help would be greatly appreciated! David Nahmani
Q-Range = +1/16 means that only transients within 1/16th note of the Quantize value will be quantized. You can then finesse that setting in ticks in order to make sure that any transient that was intended to be for example 1/16th off will not be quantized to the nearest beat. For example if you quantize the following beat to 1/4 Note (shown in MIDI for clarity but it's the same thing with audio): the red note is played 1/16th note after the 3rd beat. Should it be quantized to the 3rd beat? Or is it an intended syncopated note that is supposed to stay on the 2nd 1/16th note of the 3rd beat? Only you the musician knows what performance was intended (and what result you want). 1. The note was played 1/16th note late but should be quantized to the downbeat? Set Q-range to +1/16 or a little more so that the note is quantized. 2. The note is supposed to stay where it is? Set Q-range a little under +1/16 so that the note is not quantized. Hope that makes sense?
