Atlas007
Which (precise) version of Logic are you using? Which type of automation are you talking about (TBA or RBA)? In mine case (10,7,1), while the automation track display is enabled, selecting the (track) automation with the automation selection tool, copy with key command (Cmd-C), selecting the destination track, set the playhead at the desired position, paste via key command (Cmd-V). Voilà! Works every time!
David Nahmani
Here's an answer to an earlier thread where I demo another way to copy and paste automation from one track to another: How to copy and paste automations from one egion to multiple regions

David Nahmani
You're making a mistake at some point in the process. Are you sure you're clicking the trim field?? That should deselect all regions, making it impossible for you to copy and paste regions.

Atlas007
According to your videos, you are dealing with RBA. Which is different from TBA. That kind of automation (RBA) is to be treated like MIDI events (i.e. notes). You would copy RBA events from region to region. TBA is to be copied from track to track. JakobP
You must keep the regions unselected when doing the copying, watch Davids animation again... EDIT Atlas is right, you're not copying regular automation, but midi cc 11 (expression). You have to handle it like any other midi, see this post... https://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=158797&p=833741&hilit=copy+midi+cc#p833741

I'm really not that keen on spending so much time on performing such a small task and I edit my automation a lot ... cheer man
David Nahmani
I'm so confused through There are two types of automation: 1. Region-Based Automation (RBA) is contained inside a region and is copied or moved along with the region. 2. Track-Based Automation (TBA) is contained on a track and can be copied or moved independently of the regions on the track. is there an easy way to do it ? To convert your RBA into TBA choose Mix > Convert Automation > Convert Visible Region Automation to Track Automation. Then follow the steps I shared earlier (in the linked thread). Solution David Nahmani Posted November 27, 2021 Solution Share Posted November 27, 2021 Thanks for the help ! but it does not copy my expression into track and I give up trying lol ... just not worth it ... have a great day cheers Wait, don't give up! You're so close to getting it!! Expression is a MIDI CC, it's not automation per se, that is why it behaves differently. You can copy it in the Piano Roll:

David Nahmani
But here comes new problem I can’t copy my expression to modulation Lol … this is endless torture …. I knew it more problem is coming lol No problem! I think if you don't think of each step or you process as a problem, but as a question (with an answer you're trying to find) then you can accept it's the normal process of learning to use a tool rather than feel that it's endless torture. In any case. In the Tracks area, hold down the Option key on your keyboard while you click the automation parameter menu and choose Modulation, you'll be prompted to convert your Expression into Modulation:

However this is going to create more issue for me later on , I need to be able to copy and paste between across different modulation/expression a lot and it is taking way too much steps, it’ll simply slows down my work flow However at least I can give up happily now …. Lol Hopefully they will make is more user friendly soon on this Thanks man… all the best
