sunbambino
I've successfully moved a lot of CST's, AU presets etc etc from a MacBook Pro (Catalina) to an iMac Pro (Big Sur) but something's gone slightly adrift with Plugin Manager. In the instrument or fx select box on the channel strip I can see my plugs arranged in my User folders as expected. I can also select from those folders. But when I go to Plugin Manager the User folders aren't there, only the normal list of all my plugs. Any hope of restoring these User folders to the Plugin Manager? des99
Did you move all the tag database files, which house all the plugin manager data, from your old computer to the new one?
sunbambino
Ah, maybe I didn't move those, I'll investigate
sunbambino
Could you let me know where to find those, a search for 'tag database' files in Logic hasn't brought up any results.
des99
Sure, it's ~/Music/Audio Music Apps/Databases/
sunbambino
Thank you, des99
sunbambino
I think I must have originally copied that Databases folder. And I'm sad to report that copying it again (just to be 100%) has not made a difference.
des99
Might be a permissions issue? Check your Mac & user account can read/write the files ok... If you create a new test folder in the Plugin Manager, does it show up? If you create a new folder, with the same name as one of your existing folders, does it show up now? sunbambino
That's the strange thing, I can't add a new folder, there's no controls for that function visible. So I went ahead and restored all default settings for Plugin Manager, still nothing. So then I restored Logic's default prefs and still no folder options in P Manager. May have to reinstall Logic? Would you agree?
Solution des99 Posted November 29, 2021 Solution Share Posted November 29, 2021 No, a reinstall isn't going to change anything... Do you have Advanced Tools enabled in the preferences? Try dragging the separator lines in the plugin manger until the + icon becomes visible, if it's not. If not, you could post a screenshot so we can see what you are seeing.
sunbambino
After trashing my User Folder structure I read your last message, restored an earlier Logic from Time Machine, went in and dragged open the separator lines and behold: my User Folders accessible in Plugin Manager. I wouldn't have got here without your help, des99. Big up my8.
des99
Ah, great! Glad you found the problem! Yes, the separator line thing has cropped up before, I remember David mentioning it some weeks back, so I threw that one in there as something to look at... sunbambino
Yeah, it's a little visually cryptic, I've never seen that area zipped up like that before on any previous machine, so relieved )
andreasoberholz
I did try the same on my new Mini M1 with no luck at all. In the end, I did try to reset the structure in the hope that the + button comes back and I can start from scratch.... but NO. Then I could see how logic is writing new TEMP files. Since then the Temp Data Folder is empty. Doing Logic since 2006. It's a bit spooky. I did try to repair permissions (First AID in DISK UTL) but its still the same. Did try to reinstall Logic. No success at all.
sdjones3
See that line between "Top Line" and "Manufacturer"? Drag it down and the folders will be visible again.
David Nahmani
See that line between "Top Line" and "Manufacturer"? Drag it down and the folders will be visible again. Wow, great, that works! Thanks so much for joining us to provide this answer.
des99
See that line between "Top Line" and "Manufacturer"? Drag it down and the folders will be visible again. Yes, that's what I meant above when I said: Try dragging the separator lines in the plugin manger until the + icon becomes visible, if it's not. Seems to be a sneaky one that affects a few people. andreasoberholz
See that line between "Top Line" and "Manufacturer"? Drag it down and the folders will be visible again. Thanks, but this didn't work for me I had to reinstall Logic, and voila the folders came back.
