ThenCameNow
I want to disable an Arturia Keystep in Logic but it does not appear in the Control Surface Setup. I've tried Audio MIDI Setup and the Arturia MIDI Control Center but there's no option to disable the device in Logic. Mind you, I want to keep the Keystep connected to the computer for other reasons. Any suggestions ? Thanks.
David Nahmani
Do you mean disable the keys so they don't trigger an instrument? Do you have Logic 10.6.3 or did you update to 10.7 (they don't handle this the same way).
ThenCameNow
Yes, just disable the triggering. I'm still on 10.6.
Solution David Nahmani Posted December 7, 2021 Solution Share Posted December 7, 2021 Ok then choose Window > Open MIDI Environment. In the menu at the top left choose Click and Ports. Choose New > Monitor and cable the tiny triangle next to your controller name into the Monitor. You will see the notes you play on the monitor but they will no longer be routed to instruments in Logic Pro. You will have to recreate this cable inside your templates or other projects, as it is project specific.

ThenCameNow
And just for future reference, how is it done in 10.7 ?
David Nahmani
You're welcome! In Logic 10.7, you can choose the desired port (or keyboard) as an input on any given MIDI or software instrument track.

JakobP
Unless it's removed in 10.6-7, there's an "Inputs" tab in Logics midi preferences where you can deselect unwanted midi devices...
ThenCameNow
Thanks. But the Keystep doesn't show up in this view. I've just learned that the input must be connected to a "Monitor" object in the Environment to disconnect a keyboard/controller.
JakobP
You mentioned Control Surface Setup, this isn't the same, so, did you really check ?
