MatthewDNewtonUK
I have recently started utilising the 'Stereo Pan' (I will use the abv SP) effect after using 'Balance' (abv = B) doing minor work previously. I have noticed that after swapping to SP from B my limiter which once limited my sound to -6 db is now going above -6db when moving the stereo field around. Am I going crazy or is this something which is unavoidable as we are adding the sound from the left into the right on top of the signal already there? Hopefully there is a work around from this other than simply limiting a bus and sending the channel to there. Image 1 - In B mode limiting to -6 db Image 2 - In SP mode but central limiting to -6 db Image 3 - In SP mode to left but going over limit -6 db Thank you in advance
David Nahmani
I suppose it's a pan law issue, since the Panner is placed after the Limiter plug-in in the signal flow. You can either experiment with different pan laws to see how they affect the levels when using the Stereo Panner, or not worry about it and compensate for the desired level with the volume fader.
