Dox
This must be fairly simple but I can't think of an easy way to convert an audio recording of a simple drum rhythm to MIDI. Can anyone advise please?
Solution David Nahmani Posted January 16, 2022 Solution Share Posted January 16, 2022 This must be fairly simple but I can't think of an easy way to convert an audio recording of a simple drum rhythm to MIDI. Can anyone advise please? Choose Track > Convert Regions to New Sampler Track.
Dox
Thanks David. But then what? I want to see a MIDI track with the beats.
David Nahmani
Thanks David. But then what? I want to see a MIDI track with the beats. You should see a MIDI region on the sampler track, you can then move the notes around to trigger different beats etc...? If what you want is for Logic to automatically detect when the audio is a kick and put a C1 for the kick, a D1 for the snare etc... then that's not possible. JakobP
Select "Create Zones from Transient Markers", rather than from "Regions"
David Nahmani
What I got was this (see screenshot) Ok make sure you choose to create zones by transient when creating the instrument, so that you get a single MIDI note for each drum hit. Edit: Oh I see Jakob got there before I did. Alternatively you can use Quick Sampler in slice mode and later drag and drop the MIDI file from Quick Sampler. I have an exercise that details how to do that exactly in my Logic Pro book!
Dox
Thanks David and JacobP that has worked fine for me. I guess that I should buy your latest book too
