Dox
I need to work out the time signature for this rhythm because Logic always needs that information first in a project. Can anyone help? My Idea 47.wav.zip

Solution gacki Posted January 16, 2022 Solution Share Posted January 16, 2022 That's how I hear the first two bars; third bar is like the first one; fourth bar may be incomplete.
David Nahmani
Yes, 4/4 here as well.
Dox
Thank you everyone. I can see the 4/4 Time Signature now. I don't know HOW you managed to decipher that, but it does seem to be correct, thanks.
fuzzfilth
I don't know HOW you managed to decipher that, Well, there's a couple of hints. - there's a 'kick' on every 1 and on almost every 3 - there's a kick on almost every third 16th of every half bar, which together with the other kick forms a very common kick pattern - there's a kick on every fifth 16th of every bar, which also forms a common kick figure with the two preceding kicks - there's a 'snare' on every 2 and 4 - pretty much everything in between can be seen as either ghost notes or hihat, although the net percentage of such linear hihat has dropped significantly since Charlie Watts died. - every quarter note is accented, this is the pulse of the rhythm - bars 1 and 3 are identical while bars 2 and 4 are variations, also a very common structure On the grid, it looks like this Played by drums, it sounds like this: My Idea 47 audio.mp3.zip
Dox
Thanks for the breakdown Fuzzfilth. It seems the original beat, which wasn't played to a metronome, was far enough off to make it unclear to me as to how to fit it to a grid.
