MuraliUSA
I upgraded from 9 to 9.1.3 and now I can't audition loops from within Logic. The Loops show up in the browser and appear to be activated when I click them, but I can't hear them. I am able to drag them into the session from the browser and they will play in the session. They work properly in Garage Band. I have a MacBook 2.2 Dual, OS 10.5.8, 4GB RAM. The location of the Apple Loops in the Library folder seems correct. There is also a "CAF Apple" folder in the Apple Loops folder. Any suggestions to fix this would be great appreciated! Thanks, Murali
David Nahmani
Check the preview volume fader at the bottom of the Loop Browser. If that does not solve your issue, then open your Mixer, click the "All" button at the top, and look for the "Prelisten" channel strip. That's the channel strip you're previewing apple loops through, so check its fader, its mute, its output etc...
MuraliUSA
Thanks for your reply. there is no "prelisten" channel strip. I presume I can create one if you will please tell me how to do that.
MuraliUSA
OK!! I just found the fader in question. In this session it is "Audio 24" and it was muted. Problem solved. thanks again, Murali

David Nahmani
Mike, click "All" in the title bar of your mixer, and scroll toward the right to see the last audio channel strips. If you'd like, post a screenshot so we can help you locate the culprit.

Jordi Torres
Hello Mike, it doesn't look like you have a prelisten channel in your mixer. Do the following: -Open the environment window (Command+8) -Duplicate any audio channel strip in the environment's mixer layer (by Option+dragging). -Go to this channel strip's inspector, and change its "Channel" parameter to "Audio 256" (it will be at the bottom of a long drop-down menu). -Rename the channel strip to "Prelisten". David Nahmani
if u need a better pic, jst let me know and i'll be more than happy to do it! Yes, in fact it would help if you can post a pic where we can see the bottom of the mixer (with the labels on the channel strips). But try Jordito's suggestion first, that's actually the best way to solve your problem!

Julian Hue
Does this method still work? I hit command + 8 and I don't know what channel strip I'm supposed to be duplicating or maybe I'm just misunderstanding the directions?
Mark R
The default key command to open the Environment window changed to cmd + 0 (command zero) in recent versions of Logic.
woodsdenis
How do you set Preview track to 256 if they are greyed out ? I can make an audio track and only set it to 253.
yeldarb
So I know this thread is from 10 years ago, but I've just got a similar problem. I'm running 10.6.3 on a 2015 MBP under Big Sur 11.1. I can audition the loops as long as the song isn't playing, but as soon as I start playing a song the loops won't play (audition). Is this a simple setting I'm missing? A new behavior?
