Need tricks for saving processing and ram...

Hi here is my problem, see my setup down below, ( Imac i7 quad, 8g ram) it's not an old machine but i'm running a very heavy project with lots of waves pluggins on 68 tracks with 10 FX busses.

I have done more on my old laptop... (with out the Waves)

64 bit give me more ram but when all track freezed, have nothing gained and seems weak and overload appears alot.

32 bit seems more powerfull when freezed but again, I get cut on ram and it's not getting any better 64 or 32... even freezed.

I have my old MBP witch i could NODE with iMac but the icones ( on track) is showing the " waiting for syncro" ( two green arrows pointing each other)

not working...

Any more idea for getting my mix done without frustrating weakness and overloads ?

Thanks.

no technical solution but maybe helpful

everyone has his own workflow and here is mine:

"it's all about talking decisions to make a good record"... 68 tracks ? bounce what you like, bin the rest and make a good mix from scratch.
