can't hear myself while recording audio (input monitoring)

Hi everybody,

I'm recording some vocals and guitar, but I can't figure out how to listen to my audio as it's recording.

I/O for Audio track:

- Input: Input 1 (signal is coming in fine, level meter responds as expected)

- Output: stereo out (tried switching to mono output 1 and mono output 2 but that doesn't solve my problem)

- track is record enabled (records audio fine)

- Input monitoring is enabled ( "I" is orange)

- as I record, my meters respond as expected and audio waves are created in real time just as expected

- when I playback my recording, it sounds fine (inserts sound as expected and can be tweaked and bypassed normally)

- track is not muted or soloed

- region is not muted or soloed

- core audio input: FW 410 multichanel

- core audio output: FW 410 multichanel

- audio settings in system preferences are set to FW410 for input and output (other programs' audio comes through fine through my interface)

- only Logic is running

Is there anything I'm missing in order to use input monitoring?

I'm running Logic 9.0.4 in Snow Leopard.

my audio interface is a M-audio FW 410

Thanks in advance for any help
