I re-enstalled the hardware driver but it hasn't helped Regards Robb Marriott
frugalpole
is your MT|4 on a bus w/ other usb devices? try plugging it into its own slot (don't chain it). does the problem still remain? on occasion the usb bus doesn't have enough juice to power multiple bus powered devices. and while the device is still powered it does not relate correctly to your computer. robbzz11
hi Thanks for the reply No the MT4 is in its own slot no bus no chain. I have tried moving it to a different slot but it doesn't seem to make any difference. The MT4 is not itself powered as it worked without it before. frugalpole
since it worked before the move, and not after is there a possibility it was ruined during the move? only other thought i have is a fresh install of the os, and everything. David Nahmani
You should reinstall your MIDI Drivers. It seems like you did that already, but this time grab the latest ones: http://www.emagic.de/support/download/unitor.php?lang=EN Once you have done that open Disk Utility and repair your permissions on your system volume. robbzz11
Hi First.... thanks for the help. Ok I downloaded the latest midi driver as suggested and Unitor8 and installed the e magic driver then When i open Unitor 8 control (I am assuming this also controls the MT4) I just get " There are no midi outputs available please configure the communication preferences" all the green leds light for a sec on the MT4 so it is communicating i guess but it just wont recognise my sound canvas. Also as suggested ran disk utility and repaired permissions. Any more help would be appreciated. Regards Robb Marriott

David Nahmani
First thing: backup everything! Then try these: 1) Try creating a new account "TEST" and see if you can get it to work in there? 2) Try resetting the PRAM and NVRAM 1. Shut down the computer. 2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4. 3. Turn on the computer. 4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears. 5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time. 6. Release the keys. 3) Open a Terminal window and type: sudo update_prebinding -root / -force then hit return and wait until it stops. ( a few minutes...) 4) Open /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility, select your system volume and repair permissions. 5) Shut down, and physically unplug the computer for 10 mn. Restart. If all the above fails, I would try to reinstall OS X. Best of luck!
robbzz11
Hi David Thanks once again for your help. I’m not a big apple user only for my music (have my PC to type and send this) I have a few dumb of questions for you LOL How do I create a new account ?? Command-Option keys I guess you mean the Alt and Apple keys as marked up on my keyboard. ? What is a Terminal window and how do I open it ? Also if I have to re-install 0X sys will I also have to re-install Logic? Kind Regards Robb Marriott
David Nahmani
Also if I have to re-install 0X sys will I also have to re-install Logic? Yes, but it's a pretty fast and straight-ahead process. Just make sure you BACK-UP ALL YOUR FILES! As for the other suggestions, I would skip them if you don't know what you're doing.... it will be faster to just re-install everything. Good luck!
