midi hardware issue...

I'm running Logic 7.1 / OS Tiger with a G5 dual 2GIG w/ 2GIGS of RAM...

Motu 828 connected to

Yamaha 01V via lightpipe

Midiman 4x4

Oxygen 8

EA-1

Nordlead3

here are my problems:

1. if I draw in midi info into sequencer I can control my syths no problem, but I hear nothing if I play the keyboard keys themselves, even if I have the midi channel set to record. My midiman says it's getting info, but I can't see it coming into logic. On the transport it still says no info, even when I'm hitting keys...

2. nowhere in logic can I find my oxygen 8 even though it was set-up during AMS. if I try and midi learn nothing happens... even with the nord... It is like I am not moving any knobs. I have followed the exact advice from earlier thread but still nothing happens. It is as if the keyboards are not connected.

Any ideas?

Austin

I recently upgraded to Tiger with a clean install and had to do my whole Logic setup again. Luckily the Oxygen 8 was part of the hardware options in Logic's setup assistant so it did it all for me. It even showed up in Audio MIDI Setup without me doing anything. So run the Setup Assistant in Logic so it can finally see your Midiman (that's the Manufacturer for the Oxygen8).

I ran the AMS again and I think the problem could be the fact my midman 4x4 uses the same driver as the oxygen 8. Is this possible, or does that even matter? Although it does show up in the set-up I can't actually find it in logic.

Since I re-ran AMS I now have a problem where logic crashes if I try and do midi learn, or even when I try and quit the application (Logic) itself.

Also, now I can hear the keyboard (nord only) when I hit the keys, and see it registering in the arrange window, but if I send midi to it nothing happens. Is there some sort of switch I've somehow activated?

could this work?

It is possible to use the Oxygen 8 without midi interface by plugging it in using the included USB cable. Is it possible for me to run the Oxygen 8 directly while using the midiman 4x4 for the other instruments? It would be like have 2 midi interfaces running at the same time, and using the same driver to do so, would this a good idea? I don't want to even try until I know it won't make things worse.

Well, I got it working!

I did what I thought would only cause problems and presto.

Rather than run the oxygen 8 through the 4x4, I just ran it directly through USB.

Right away I could record from nord, and when I tried a midi learn the oxygen 8 actually registered and worked perfectly.
