Focusrite Producers Pack and Motu 828 quesiton

I am thinking about purchasing the Focusrite producers pack so I can have a hi quality preamp and a better AD converter than my Motu 828. I intend to then use the SPIDF out of my Focusrite into the SPIDF of the 828. This is to record, so my quesion is; will I be able to monitor the digital signal without any latency? Also, if I choose to monitor the SPIDF signal thru Logic, will the latency be equal to the analog latency, or does a digital signal work diferently. Does any one have a similar set up? How does it work? THanks so much for your help/advice.

You'll get the same latency. Either way you have to go through an A/D converter and you'll get the A/D converter's latency (small compared to the total latency you get when monitoring through your DAW). Then you can use MOTU's zero latency monitoring or go in Logic. Wether your A/D is MOTU's or the focusrite's won't change anything.

There's a long latency thread here: http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=620

Always keep in mind that:

Latency = A/D converter delay + driver safety offset + CoreAudio input buffer size + Logic input buffer + Logic output buffer + CoreAudio output buffer + driver safety offset + D/A converter delay.
