So far - great! I have no issue with any device (bunch of external disks, NVme thunderbolt3 / NVMe usb 3.2 10gbps / normal USB 3), UFX+ works perfectly both via USB3.0 and via thunderbolt, USB2 devices (nob control and stream deck) work perfectly.

And it runs MUCH smoother than my intel Mini. :)

Cool!

I've now got everything externally functional, but I don't have as much as you. My USB hub usb3 x 4 =>usb4 cost me €14.99.

I have to bear in mind that this is my wife's new 'puter, and I'm just 'testing' it.

So far, from what I can tell, I won't need more than 16gb RAM or the highest end iMac to be be happy as Larry when I do get my new iMac later this year.

As a bonus, the M1 Mini blows the iMac in my sig completely out of the water on Civ VI!

I didn't think T-Racks was supported on Big Sur yet. The T-Racks 5 presets show up on my M1 - both standalone and plugins. ~/Documents/IK Multimedia/...

I've brought the presets over from my iMac, put them in the right folder, only found in standalone mode.

EDIT: They're there, now. Somehow, I locked myself out of Amplitube's presets. I'll have to figure that out. Uninstall, re-install shuffle.

Ok,

This is an update on my experience with the M1 Mini.
It was working surprisingly normally..for the first couple of OS updates. I'd read about HDMI connectivity issues, but they never occurred here…until the last couple of OS updates. The simple fix is to reach over and unplug and replug it in, and the desktop is there. Apple is aware of this problem. I don't completely understand what broke n the updates, but that's what's happening on that front.
Agan, after the latest OS updates, trying to use Logic in Native mode while using Intel plugins have led to what I assume people call memory leaks. A few times I've received a popup message telling me that memory was short and did I want to use the SSD swap. That never once happened with the earlier versions of Big Sur. This was on a relatively small project.
The Mini boots about 4-5 seconds slower than with earlier v. of Big Sur. About 20 secs now. I'm also getting spinning beachballs when attempting to click on certain things. That also did not happen before.
Finally, the issue with no software monitoring while play is engaged on audio tracks has not been solved. I'm certain that this also didn't happen before.
Weird scenes inside the goldmine, dudes and dudettes.

Never seen this kind of weirdness before, but I didn't try Logic until 2007, long enough afterward for most of the kinks in the new Intel machines to be ironed out. I don't think the RME driver is quite right either. It keeps flipping from 44.1 to 48khz. I'm disappointed that the OS updates seems to have scrambled the Mini's brains for now. My new Mini will likely be before September, so I hope there's progress.

Latest OS and Logic works incredibly well here on MBA. Is it maybe a third party plugin for you or the interface driver that acts up?

I think it's the driver that's switching the sample rate. I've noticed it happening when I play Civ VI. As for the rest, I don't think it's a 3rd party plugin because they were all functional before the latest OS updates. I'm going to have to post at RME and see what they make of it.

Yeah try unplugging the interface and see how logic behaves. If it’s OK then it is the driver.

Problem is, the Mini has no mic or other way to input. I used TM to go back to the previous driver, and it did the same thing. I also tried Logic 6.1 and 6.2. No difference.

How about what Fisherking used to say? Resetting vram, etc? Trashing Logic’s preferences?

used to? i always suggest that.

this is a bit different; the process for troubleshooting is different on the M1, and not sure those things will help, but, not having any experience with the new macs... trying some basic troubleshooting may not be a bad idea.

you need to access 'startup options' on the M1 to access the 'diagnostics loader'... you can google details.

Re: New M1 machines: Connectivity and General Experience

Found this on the internet:

Unlike SMC, which no longer exists on M1 Macs, NVRAM exists, but it works differently.

The new Macs still have a kind of parameter memory whose settings you can view and change with the terminal command NVRAM, but there is no longer any command to reset the contents of NVRAM.

According to several sources, including the accessory manufacturer Caldigit and comments on Apple's support forum, which claims to have talked to Apple's support, the M1 processor tests NVRAM when the computer is started from shutdown (i.e. not after a normal reboot). If something is wrong with the memory, it is reset automatically.

We have so far not been able to test whether this means that the M1 Macs can "save themselves" from incorrectly set NVRAM values. We recommend that you take extra care if you make manual changes with the NVRAM tool.

An alternative is to start the Mac in recovery mode, start Terminal from the Tools menu and enter the command:

NVRAM -c

We have seen reports that the command may give an error message, but it should still work and the computer forgets, for example, the password of the connected wifi network.
