nev17
Hi folks, I need to find the easiest way to record a 2-way interview for a podcast/YouTube video. If possible, I'd like to record directly into LPX. I don't and won't know what facilities the interviewees will have so I need a method that will be usable in most circumstances. I want to record video where I can but, if the interviewee isn't set up for it, I will just record audio. Any help will be gratefully received. Thanks
Atlas007
If you go in the fields, keep tech as simple as possible and plan for backup. Recording with a computer doesn't qualify obviously.
nev17
Maybe my question isn't clear enough. The interviews are going to be conducted from my studio in the UK with interviewees spread around the globe. I'd like to be able to offer a way of doing the interviews on camera but, at the very least, with audio. Thanks.
Eriksimon
Route your mic to a mono track and route the interviewees "input" to another mono track with a different input channel (how are you contacting them? Whatsapp? Phone? Skype? other? Via the same computer Logic is on, or via a phone, or other?)
nev17
Route your mic to a mono track and route the interviewees "input" to another mono track with a different input channel (how are you contacting them? Whatsapp? Phone? Skype? other? Via the same computer Logic is on, or via a phone, or other?) Quite. This is my problem. I don't know what facilities the interviewees will have. Let's say I make a FaceTime call through my studio computer. 1. How do I route the incoming audio into two separate LPX tracks? 2. What if the interviewee wants to do the interview on a landline phone? 3.How do I record FaceTime video? These are three of the very many questions I have. I was hoping there would be some ingenious piece of software that does all of this. The only software I've found that answers some of my questions is Source Connect but they don't even mention recording the audio. If it gave me WAV/AIFF files I could import into LPX but it doesn't say.

Eriksimon
You may want to look into Blackhole, free software for routing audio between applications on the Mac. https://github.com/ExistentialAudio/BlackHole/releases
Atlas007
For inter-app audio router I have been using Soundflower reliably for years. For Skype calls, being used on both Mac and PCs (and some Linux OS), are more popular than Facetime's, the Ecamm Call Recorder is also a trustworthy app. I have been using same for years also without problem. That company also offers other related softwares which might be of interest as well...

Eriksimon
For inter-app audio router I have been using Soundflower reliably for years. I gathered that at the moment Soundflower isn't compatible with Catalina - BlackHole is. That is why I mentioned it.
