Is there a midi tool for removing overlapping note?

Recommended Posts

Need to reduce scores to only include four midi sound channels. Presently my midi files contain lots of successive notes which (slightly) overlap. The overlapping is caused mainly by legatos/slurs, and also by tremolos and grace notes. I want every note to be a discreet (ie. non-overlapping) midi note so I can easier limit it to four midi sound channels. Does anyone know a midi tool which achieves this instead of doing it manually?

Try the topmost option in Ericsimon's picture above. "Trim Notes to Remove Overlaps with Selected"

It worked! (I first had to restart the program because there was some glitchy behaviour.) It removed all overlapping notes. (I'm still learning how to use the "quantize" section as I don't want any notes to be shown as "overlapping" in the score editor!)
