Parker Fly and DI box

Recommended Posts

Hi - hope everyone's holiday weekend is off to a good start.

I have sort of an esoteric question. I have a 2003 Parker Fly Mojo which has a stereo Fishman preamp in it.

I am looking into buying a the Neve RNDI active direct box for recording and would like your advice on the following:

I have come to believe that, when using a DI box, the law of opposites is the rule of thumb, meaning if the guitar has an active preamp, you would use a passive DI box and vice-versa.

However, I am wondering if anyone knows whether the stereo Fishman preamp contained in the Parker Fly Mojo is only activated when the Piezo pickup is engaged or whether it is always on?

Additionally, even if the Fishman preamp is always active, what are the pros and cons of using an active DI box with it rather than a passive one?

Thank you
