96,000 Khz and low buffer sizes

Recommended Posts

I'm entertaining spending the stupid money, going back to the Mac Pro and making my current IMAC my internet machine.

Having played around back and forth with 48,000/96,000 Hz sample rates and different buffer sizes, it is pretty obvious to my ears that even when rendering final bounces back down to 48,000 Hz, the improved performance of pretty much everybody's plugins at 96,000 Hz is notable enough to justify the upgrade.

Now questions revolve around waiting for the new chips or buying now, and how many cores and how much RAM to purchase.

Is or has anybody run at 96,000 Hz as your default rate and have you been able to run at low buffer sizes?

If so how are you configured between processors and RAM?

Thanks
