Nado
So...I made a decision a while back to keep my Macbook Pro 9,1, i7, GT650 video, as NVidia site as well as Apple said it would support Big Sur. I gave it a birthday, replaced all the thermal paste, upped the RAM, SSD, the thing flies with Catalina and is rock solid. Now Apple no longer shows it supported for Big Sur! I suppose its reasonable to keep running Catalina for the foreseeable future, until plugins/Logic etc require an update to run. It just annoys me that I did all that based on Apple's website, then they changed it. I would like to get a few more years out of the old girl! triplets
I think they upped the requirements to 2014 and newer for Big Sur at some point. I have a 2012 Mac Mini that I saved for that purpose and now it has Catalina on it and that's it. Oh well.
Ploki
My gf still uses it - i too was hoping it would run Big Sur. If it were mine, i'd do this: https://medium.com/@andv/how-to-install-big-sur-to-mac-mini-late-2012-9d674b563174 since it's hers, i don't think i'll f*%@ with it
