apple loops vs splice & loopmaster?

Recommended Posts

options like splice and loopmasters have the benefit of being constantly active, so are easily more 'up-to-date'. apple gives us new libraries with entirely-new logic versions, so... not often.

other than that, the apples loops are pretty good (i never use them, but appreciate their value); i do use loops (mostly guitar phrases i cut up), mostly from loopmasters...

Apple Loops are also readily available stand-ins which you can drop into a song while you're working it out ... especially if your MIDI/performance skills are nothing like the loop's. (MIDI loops are also nice because – just like library patches – you can tear into them and see just how they were made, and "steal" the MIDI event-patterns to use somewhere else.) Later, you might decide that "the loop just has to go" ... or, not. But in early stages I find that it's too easy to fixate on making decisions that, actually, I don't need to make yet.
