ni guang xin
i'm know it's a bit like comparing apple to oranges, but what are youe feelings towards the quality of apple loops? i honestly think they're pretty good.
fisherking
options like splice and loopmasters have the benefit of being constantly active, so are easily more 'up-to-date'. apple gives us new libraries with entirely-new logic versions, so... not often. other than that, the apples loops are pretty good (i never use them, but appreciate their value); i do use loops (mostly guitar phrases i cut up), mostly from loopmasters... ni guang xin
thanks for the reply! i find the drums from apple loops to be particularly good, i often sample kicks from those loops with quick sampler
Ploki
i like both. i have splice on pause right now tho, i used way less than i anticipated. have like 800 unused creds
ni guang xin
the funny thing about presets and loops, is that if you don't know how to create some by yourselves, you can't really apply third party stuff effectively, tweeking and mixing is really hard, arrangement too, like when to use a reverse snare. MikeRobinson
Apple Loops are also readily available stand-ins which you can drop into a song while you're working it out ... especially if your MIDI/performance skills are nothing like the loop's. (MIDI loops are also nice because – just like library patches – you can tear into them and see just how they were made, and "steal" the MIDI event-patterns to use somewhere else.) Later, you might decide that "the loop just has to go" ... or, not. But in early stages I find that it's too easy to fixate on making decisions that, actually, I don't need to make yet. Nunstummy
All my loops have been free so far, but I have 2 month free coupons for sounds.com and splice.com. Any opinions on which is better?
