Christopher11
Hey guys. How do you like this mix? Do the vocals sit right to your ears? Feel free to share any thoughts. Thank you! No Way.mp3.zip
triplets
Her timbre has a strong push at around 4k when she doesn't do falsetto, so try not to push that frequency in your EQ too much.
Christopher11
Ah! Really good advice. Thank you. Yeah it seems a bit trebly in general, the vocals?
Christopher11
I added a little compression to the vocals on this, just a tinge. All I did was change the threshold slightly; it wasn't catching her vocals at all. No Way.mp3.zip
triplets
Yeah, maybe you need to add volume automation to the vocals, to even out the falsettos with the normal notes.
David Nahmani
The mix is pretty good. I would work on the balance a bit. The vocals could sit a little better in the mix (they're a tad loud). Especially in places like 0:16 and then even more at 0:26. That guitar that comes in at 0:28 would need some finessing as well, it's a little jarring and too loud as well. The other guitars sit better in the mix. I would first spend the time to really dial in the levels, both general level of the instruments such as vocal and that guitar (should both come down), then with volume automation and compression to make them a bit more consistent. Once all the instruments sit in their right place volume wise in the song, it's easier to fine tune the little EQ correction or reverb needed to further polish them.
