fatboy250
Does anyone know how to create a setting so that the pitch that is played on a guitar is converted to a MIDI signal in real-time. This MIDI signal would then play one of the virtual instruments in real-time I realize the pitch tracking speed will be limited to whatever algorithm controls the built in tuner, but I would like to use this option in whatever limited capacity from time to time. I realize there is hardware that can be purchased to do this task (AXON, etc), but I would like to use this in whatever capacity with my guitar and Logic. Thanks, Jason
Kouly
I am not quite sure of your question, hardware is the only solution that I know of. I am sure if you had it that would work for what you want. As far as a "setting" in Logic, it does not exist. You can do it after the fact, though not in real time. guitarhelper
Yeah, you would have to go with the Axon Ax-50 and a guitar with the 13 pin jack installed or get a Gk3 pickup. Brian www.guitarhelper.net
fatboy250
What about trying to use a plugin like this? How would you set something like this up? Pitch To Midi 1.0 (by PolyFractus) Pitch2Midi is the first and only shareware plug-in which convert any (monophonic) audio source to a MIDI signal, in real time. fernmeister
Sorry. Misread the OP about software only solutions... http://www.sonuus.com/products.html Have yet to try it, but it's on my shopping list.
Matt Mayfield
Sorry. Misread the OP about software only solutions... http://www.sonuus.com/products.html Have yet to try it, but it's on my shopping list. Looks kind of useful, but note that it's monophonic - it will only sense one note at a time.
fernmeister
sure. but, is there anything that can do polyphonic guitar pitch to MIDI in any format? DNA will, supposedly, but that isn't available yet.
organsymphony
i think your relly pushing it asking for polyphonic pitch to midi.. the only things i know of that can do that are the hex pickups which read each string independantly. Cant see any possible way of analysing a chord from pure audio.
fatboy250
I would like to be able to run it with the software monophonically. How would I set this up so that the midi data that is created with the software is sent to Logic? It would just be another type of midi controller, but in the form of software. Any suggestions? Matt Mayfield
What you're suggesting is possible, but I'm not aware of any software that does it. Edit: whoops, fatboy250 mentioned some. Maybe look into those.
fatboy250
sure. but, is there anything that can do polyphonic guitar pitch to MIDI in any format? DNA will, supposedly, but that isn't available yet. What is DNA. Will it be an AU? This Widisoft AU is the only one I've seen so far that IS an AU supposed to work with LOGIC 8. BUT, I'm still not clear on how to make it work in REAL-TIME. Anyone more knowledgable about LOGIC could probably tell me, but I haven't had anyone say anything yet.
