Logic pro to Skype (broadcast it)

Mon Jun 07, 2010 11:19 am

Hello,

Yesterday a friend called me. He needed a small piece of music in one hour. Instead trying to explain what I'm doing, I find it real handy if he could hear it on his computer. I don't want to keep sending mp3 files over and over again. Is there any kind of programm (like skype) where you can transmit your midi directly to the other person, so he can hear it in rather good quality?

Greetz,

You could try what's in this thread. It's specifically about iChat but it seems it could work with Skype as well. Let us know if it does.

Ah yes, it is very helpfull, and it is working already. BUT! I have Logic 8 and I don't know how I can play with my midi keyboard now.

My midi keyboard is connected to my Mbox2.

Or is it also possible to just use my mbox2 as input so they can hear my midi on skype? anyway, I can't play with my keyboard now when soundflower is selected as device.

Yes. The Virtual Glass plugin from Esession is designed specifically for this.

Both of these replies above are exellent solutions! I do have a question about eSession's 'Virtual Glass'. Both of the people do need Protools or Logic, right? Or can the user on the other side open the programm external without Logic or other sequencers? I mean, it is not a suitable programm if you want to show it to a client who does not have that kind of programm's? (I guess not) I can't find this kind of information on the eSession site.

Anyway, maybe there is another way to broadcast stuff live? I've heard of Nicecast ones. Never used it and don't know if it works. Does anyone knows something about it?
