Antiphones
I feel stupid asking this because I've been using MainStage since it was first launched and have gigged all over the world with it and developed fairly complicated setups. So I'm not a novice, but my question sounds like one. I've been using the same MainStage file for years and just altering it as I needed to. However it's become increasingly flakey so I decided to start from scratch from one of minimal keyboard template. What I can't get to happen is to have different effects on my aux channels in different patches. So I set up an aux in patch no. 1 and add effects. Then I create a new patch, patch no. 2. But the aux channels in patch 2 have the same effects as patch 1. Changing the effects in patch 1 changes them in patch 2 as well. I created the auxes in the patch level, not the set level. I added the effects in the patch level too. In all my old setups I can have different effects on auxes in every patch. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help. Eric Cardenas
You have to make sure to use Patch busses instead of Global ones.
Antiphones
Thanks Eric. I created the busses within a patch. I didn't think it was possible to create a global bus from within a patch, I thought you needed to be in the concert level to do that. Eric Cardenas
You're welcome! And yes, if you use a regular bus – an Aux channel will be created on a concert level, thus creating the problem you are facing.
Antiphones
Actually I don't see Patch Buss as an option in the send menu it only says Bus. Again this is at the patch level.
Eric Cardenas
Which version of MainStage do you use?
Antiphones
3.3.2 Thanks for the graphic demo. But I don't see Patch Buss in the send menu as it appears in your graphic. Only "Bus" appears there.
Eric Cardenas
That's really strange? Have you tried this on the basic Keyboard concert template? If that doesn't work I would try trashing the preference file to see if it's corrupt.
Antiphones
Ok I think I figured it out. It looks like a Patch Buss can only be added on an audio channel or instrument which is created at the patch level. If you create audio or instrument channels at the concert level (which I did) you can't use Patch Busses.
Antiphones
This appears to be the case even if you are in patch level when you try to create a Patch Bus.
Eric Cardenas
Yes, of course. It's a patch bus and will not work with any channel strip that isn't on the patch level. You can turn off "Show Signal Flow Channel Strips" if you need to see the channels that are part of that level.
