Khatru
Hello Mainstage users. I have been using Mainstage for a few years now and just obtained a Roland PK 5. I am having a few issues with Mainstage recognising the unit. Is there someone out there using/has used PK 5 with Mainstage Hopefully looking forward to replies
gacki
This needs more context. Does the PK 5 need drivers; does it show up in "Audio MIDI Setup"; does it perhaps work with other software; can you see data in a MIDI monitor... Khatru
Additional background info. PK 5 shows up in iMac MIDI Setup along with my Yamaha NP30, Nektar GX61 and my SubZero MIDI controller. Everything bar the PK5 shows an input response in the little triangles at the bottom of the stated piece of equipment. I have downloaded MIDIView from App Store and once again it shows signal response from Yamaha, Nektar and Subzero but not the PK5. If I MIDI the PK5 to my Yamaha NP30 it will trigger the Yamaha, Octave switch on PK5 switches Octave response on Yamaha so I am convinced PK5 is working and sending MIDI. After some Googling I have found Roland have a new version of their MIDI/USB Interface UM ONE MK2. I have Catalina installed on the Mac and I can see Roland have drivers for Catalina available, but some more digging shows people have been having problems with the drivers on Catalina. I wanted to use the PK5 for triggering the bass pedals within the Vintage B3 patch, both my keyboards are working fine triggering the upper and lower manuals in Multi-timbrel mode. I was wondering if I am going down the same path as anyone else. I am resorting to buying a Behringer Crave and MIDI the PK5 to that to get Moog Taurus clone and output to my speaker setup. It would still be nice to be able to trigger B3 within Mainstage though. Any thoughts or guidance if someone has already done what I’m trying to do would be welcome Thanks for your time. gacki
OK, so I looked at the manual of he PK-5 and it is a pure MIDI controller without a USB port. So this means that it must be somehow connected to the computer via MIDI; either using a pure MIDI interface or a combined Audio/MIDI interface. You mentioned the UM ONE MK2; is it connected to this one? Since most people using Mainstage use some kind of audio interface: Are you using one, and if so, which one? Or are you using the Mac audio output?
