sailboat155
Hello, If I have a chord progression that goes IV -- iii6 --- I. The bass motion is 4 5 1. 4-5 is strong bass motion (up a second), so is 5- 1 (down a fifth). The root motion is 4 3 1. 4 -3 is considered weak root motion (down a 2nd) and 3 -1 is strong (down a third). Which motion is actually driving the progression , the root motion or the bass motion? THANKS!
